Dawn Music Video

Everyone here on the Northeast of the United States seems to be snowed in, drinking cocoa, eating brownies with peyote in it and listening to Shackleton’s discography. Well whether you’re recovering from poorly-prepared, homemade Eggnog or a Skull Disco inspired mind bender, this music video will calm you down from your winter worries. It’s a music video for “Dawn,” off my latest EP “New Year’s Day” on Subdepth Records. It’s a short film by Donna K. made with over 1,000 pictures. If you’re into her work as much as I am, go check out her flickr page and say hello!

New Years in February

It’s finally here. My first EP as Rx, “New Year’s Day,” is available for download TODAY on iTunes, Juno, Beatport, and all major digital distributors from Subdepth Records. It’s a four song collection of deep, atmospheric, sub-woofer booming dubstep tracks with a melancholy twist.

And because we love you so much here at Subdivision, you can download a special VIP version of the track “Fire Flies” for FREE! It features Jim Doutrich of Ennui on vocals, guitar, and a slew of added analog synths.

Oh! One more thing! Be sure to check back here on the Subdivision blog in a few days to catch the music video for “Dawn“!

So what’s your New Year’s resolution?

Subdivision Best of 2009: Rx selections

With Subdivision’s one year anniversary quickly approaching, each member of the Subdivision family will be reflecting upon the music of 2009 before welcoming in 2010.

First up is Subdivision Philadelphia’s Rx 2009 picks:

5. Moth - Burial and Four Tet
C’mon, do you even need to hear the song before you know you’ll love it? The song is a tour de force collaboration, combining the subtle and haunting samples they’re both known for. “Moth” demonstrates incredible restraint then release from the duo in order to make one of the most distinct, progressive, timeless tracks I’ve heard in recent years. Bravo.

4. These Words - Martyn (featuring dBridge)
Another one of my favorite, innovative, “I don’t care what the hell genre this is, I just love it” tracks of this year. Dropped at the right time in a set and you can turn a wub wub chk-chk-BANG hour into romance in the club. Definitely need more tracks like this out there.

3. A New Error - Moderat
What an infectious, heady groove. If C3PO was peaking on ecstasy, he’d want to turn this tune UP!

2. Vibrationz – Javelin
When I first heard this song, I had it on repeat the whole month and just walked around my house in nothing but a bathrobe, socks and drank white Russians – that’s all I needed!

1. United Groove - L-Vis 1990
Need I say more? Unbelievably innovative groove, arrangement, soundscape, and most of all – IT KNOCKS!! Works everytime – I had to own this on wax the second I heard it. Fun fact that makes it all better: L-Vis LOVES Wawa!

Right Hand Hi (Kingdom Remix) - Kid Sister
Smells Like Teen Spirit (DJ SEGA remix) - Nirvana
In For The Kill (L-Vis 1990 RIP Hyper Bass Remix) - La Roux

The xx – Infinity (Flufftronix Remix)

This might be getting re-done shortly all official-like, but for the time being enjoy this Youtube embed:

Pon De Floor (Flufftronix Hybrid Bass Remix)

Since everyone and their mom remixed Pon De Floor this past month, I had to do something a little different. It’s a mix between sounds found in wobble, ghetto house, bmore, dubstep and probably another half dozen genres I’m affectionately calling Hybrid Bass. Please take a second to vote for my remix, follow this link and click “I Like It!” Thanks yall!
