The Infesticons : BOMBS ANTHEM

The Infesticons return to battle with some heavy armaments on “Bombs Anthem.” Featuring Creature, Seraphim and Juice Aleem on vox, plus a Mike Ladd beat that sounds like Stevie Wonder in a very, very bad mood, “Bombs Anthem” is the second single to be taken from the third and final part of the Infesticons trilogy, “Bedford Park.” More hip hop-oriented than first single “Kick Anthem,” “Bombs…” loses none of the punked out energy of the first.

Big Dada stalwart and producer/ DJ extraordinaire A La Fu has reworked The Infesticons’ ‘Bombs Anthem’ to stunning affect. Progressive and banging all at once, it’s all yours…

The Infesticons project began in the year 2000 with the release of “Gun Hill Road,” a moment-defining explosion from the New York Underground scene featuring Company Flow, Anti-Pop Consortium, Saul Williams and plenty more. It was followed in 2003 by the Majesticons’ rejoinder, “Beauty Party,” which one of Mike’s alter-egos described as “hearing irony die in a whole new way” (a prophetic reference to ths hipster rap scene which would follow). Now, the shell-shocked remnants of the Infesticons return for one last hurrah. A short, sharp blast of an album, which combines every ounce of Ladd’s trademark intelligence, humour and questioning with the most violent and carefree music he’s ever made.

Bass Tourist stretches that Lengthy Riddim

I love Bass Tourist. Run by Brooklyn’s Secret Agent Gel, the label has continued to put out diverse, intense dance music for the past couple years. The label’s latest release, MISTA MEN‘s “Lengthy Riddim”, continues the label’s tradition of progressive dance music. “Riddim” is a tribal dance track featuring intricate, body-weight beats and heavy bass. At once deep and upfront, it sits well alongside dubstep, UK Funky, house or any bass-heavy dance floor mix. Furthermore, the release is coupled with a MASSIVE remix by HACKMAN, originally known for his Dubstep productions, but with this remix delves into almost house, almost a classic garage sound, sexier, and more luscious.

Mella Dee & Woozee, both from Doncaster in South Yorkshire, make up Mista Men. They came together in 2007, making UK funky, garage, jungle, DnB, and dubstep around the 130 mark with big basslines.

Hackman is currently a student at Leeds College of Music, doing a music production degree. Having originally delved into dubstep production, he now concentrates on UK Funky and UK Garage mutations.

You may have heard “Riddim” dropped by the likes of Girl Unit (FACT mix 154), Martyn, & Tomb Crew. Here’s what the latter two had to say about the release:
Martyn says, “”Beautiful, great vibes”
Tomb Crew says, “Love it, will be fully supporting”

Here’s 128kbps of the release. Soak it up & then go BUY the 320s when they drop on JULY 1, 2010.

The Captain’s BASS FRIENDS part 1 (Trouble&Bass)

The Captain, the Krang of Trouble & Bass , just put out this great mix called Bass Friends (part 1) via Trouble & Bass’ Mixcloud. I had to post it up. It had impeccable timing.

Grasscut: Reggaaeton on Valium

Grasscut return with “The Door In The Wall,” a further heightening of their electro-pastoral psychedelia, which runs Krautrock up against the Brians (Wilson and Eno) and the non-conformist spirit of Robert Wyatt. Grasscut are Andrew Phillips and Marcus O’Dair. Phillips is an award-winning film and television composer with over one hundred screen credits. O’Dair is a double bassist, keyboards player whom he met in Brighton. Already acclaimed by Tom Robinson as “making genuinely daring music that still remains an accessible and enjoyable listen,” Grasscut are set to release one of the oddest, most listenable and strangely uplifting albums of the year.

Remixes come from Bibio and PRDCTV. Signed to Warp and described by Marcus Eoin of Boards of Canada as “the antidote to the modern laptopia of pristine electronic music,” Bibio turns up the bucolia to 11, leaving you imagining Trumpton getting down to Reggaaeton on valium.
