Who the Fuck Is That? RSK Remix

Pittsburgh’s RSK has been on the rise in Dubstep’s “Brostep” scene for a while now. Picked up by Chicago’s Furthersound, and releasing a slew of tracks on Savory Audio and Brotown, among others, RSK has shown his love for the bro bass.

However, it is was his new ‘drumstep’ remix of Dolla‘s ‘Who the Fuck is That?’ that really caught my attention. With all of these subgenres, I just assumed that ‘drumstep’ was a modern name for 70 or 140 drum & bass. I was wrong. Enjoy this RSK remix as much as I have. And at 320kbps, be sure to drop it live. It will go off.

The Sound of Breaking Teeth: Sticky Disco remixes The Locust

The Locust are one of the greatest noise bands of all time. If you just read that preceding sentence and have never listened to The Locust – stop reading and click here. Seriously. You will not fully appreciate this post if you don’t know the Locust’s sound.

Sticky Disco are one of my favorite rising talents. Hailing from Jerusalem, Israel, this production duo have been releasing some of the strangest and brutal tracks ever to shatter a bar glass. Their stunning Fuck Acid was the highlight on the brilliant This Is Suicide Dubs vol. 1. The fearlessness and madness behind Sticky Disco’s sound reminded me of another of my favorite production teams – The Squire of Gothos. Fittingly enough, Sticky Disco has a forthcoming release on the Squire’s OFF ME NUT.

I nearly shit myself when I saw in my inbox an email from Sticky with the subject line: ” afternoon when I received an email from Sticky with a subject reading: Brand New Set of Teeth (Sticky Disco Remix) – The Locust. Below is the union to two halves of a single schizophrenic brain – Sticky Disco and The Locust!!!

Baltimucho!

It is a bit strange to me to think that one of my favorite Baltimore Club producers lives in Philadelphia. Being a Baltimore native, and a former resident of Philadelphia, it still blows my mind that a guy from Philly releases some of my favorite Bmore Club tracks.

Well this is a big one – and arguably the best Baltimore Club track I have heard all year.
Emynd, of Crossfaded Bacon, has taken his passion for the 410′s club sound to the next level with this remix of Cee Lo‘s “Fuck You”.

Those who know me well know that I am a HUGE Cee Lo and Goodie Mob fan. I love ALL of Cee Lo’s solo records, and felt these brilliant records were overshadowed by the Gnarls Barkley bullshit. Cee Lo’s Stray Bullets mixtape is the best mixtape I’ve heard in months (if not all year).

So I had to share what may be one of my favorite tracks of the summer of 2010.

HOSTAGE – Roll (Free EP!) NS018

We gotta thank our friends over at Nightshifters for this one. It’s HUGE!!

Now, everyone knows that Hostage is an unstoppable music-making beast of legendary proportions pumping out hit after hit, week in and week out. And he’s been a busy, busy boy since his Radio 1 Essential mix earlier in the summer, playing alongside Annie Mac at the Manchester Apollo, Rockness Festival and he set the Arcadia Afterburner stage at Glastonbury ablaze -literally! Not to be restrained in the slightest, he’s back with 2 killer new tunes on this, his first free Ep on Nightshifters.

With “Roll” we see Hostage shows us a slightly more subtle hand, well, that’s before the bass drops! With “The Ba$$” he’s back at his no-holds-barred-kicking-down-the-fucking-rave-door approach with one of the most ridiculous noise-bass drops you’ll hear this year. It’s massive!!

With tracks this good, we had to pull together some remixes to make a nice tidy package for you so we asked Samo Sound Boy to turn on his Bubblin machine to bring you a bouncy dancehall flavored remix of the lead track while Figure takes the bass for a wobbly thrill ride. Nightshifters honcho Dj Donna Summer smacks you with some garage-flavored orchestral-rave to round out the set. That’s not a genre you see too often, now is it?

The Best Threads: How To Dress Well

Thanks to lovely people over at Pipedown, I have become utterly enamored with the sounds of Tom Krell aka HOW TO DRESS WELL. While finally weening myself from Pantha Du Prince‘s stunning Black Noise, now comes Mr. Krell’s sonic journey. I am counting down the days for his debut LP, Love Remains, out on Lefse Records on September 21st. I hope you too share this anticipation. Until then, soak in these lovely offerings.
